Dodge Hornet GLH: Production Confirmed for This Year

The Dodge Hornet GLH concept, a nostalgic nod to the high-performance Omni GLH, is slated to enter production this year. Dodge CEO Matt McAlear confirmed the news, generating excitement for enthusiasts and potential buyers alike.

The Legacy of the GLH: “Goes Like Hell”

Inspired by the iconic Dodge Omni GLH from the 1980s, the Hornet GLH aims to recapture the spirit of accessible performance. The original GLH, designed by Carroll Shelby, stood for “Goes Like Hell” and delivered impressive power in a lightweight package. The new Hornet GLH seeks to emulate this legacy, offering a compelling performance proposition for today’s drivers.

Performance Expectations and Mopar Parts

Dodge previously showcased the Hornet GLH concept with both GT and R/T trims, highlighting the potential for performance enhancements through Mopar’s Direct Connection parts. These concepts featured power-boosting “stage kits” and lowered suspensions, suggesting a focus on both power and handling. It remains to be seen whether the production model will offer similar upgrades across different Hornet configurations.

Pricing and Affordability

Dodge is also addressing the Hornet’s pricing strategy to make it more accessible to a wider range of buyers. The company plans to offer a starting MSRP of $29,995 for ICE models. New option packages will allow buyers to customize their vehicles with greater flexibility, potentially driving down the price. This move towards affordability, coupled with the performance-oriented GLH variant, could significantly enhance the Hornet’s appeal.

The Future of the Dodge Hornet

By combining a compelling performance package with a more accessible price point, Dodge aims to carve out a unique position for the Hornet in the competitive crossover market. The upcoming GLH variant represents a significant step in this direction, offering enthusiasts a reason to consider the Hornet as a fun and engaging option.
