Coalition Vans, founded in 2022 by Liam Seward in Sheffield, has carved out a niche for practical, off-grid-ready conversions that lean toward thoughtful layouts rather than flashy gimmicks. Their latest Ford Transit build captures that approach well. Finished in plain white with black alloy wheels and Comforser CF1100 all-terrain tires, the exterior stays understated. A Fiamma F45S awning, a spare tire mounted on a Wheeliams carrier out back, and solar panels on the roof hint at the conversion without broadcasting it.
Step inside and the tone shifts. Birch ply treated with Osmo hardwax oil sits against white walls and light wood tones, giving the cabin a Scandinavian feel that reads calm and unexpectedly open for a medium-wheelbase layout. A slatted wood ceiling with recessed LEDs, matte black fixtures, and hexagonal tile touches add just enough modernity to keep things interesting.
Front Lounge
An L-shaped bench with custom caramel cushions anchors the front living area. A removable Lagun table handles mealtimes and work-from-the-road days, and the seating pulls out into a bed via a slatted extension. Storage lives in bench drawers, overhead cabinets, and a deep shelf above the cab. A blackout curtain does the job of separating the cab from the living space.
Kitchen
The galley works within its compact footprint by stacking storage—overhead cabinets, multiple drawers, and a hidden cutlery compartment. A flip-up extension plus a cutting board that fits over the deep stainless steel sink adds usable counter space when needed. Coalition kept cooking flexible: no fixed appliances are built in, so owners run a portable stove or plug-in cooker. A CamperCool 50L fridge tucks under the rear bed.

Bathroom
The custom wet bath is positioned between the lounge and bedroom, accessed through a roll door that saves floor space. It runs a black powder-coated stainless steel shower tray, a bamboo mat, and a hexagon-patterned accent wall that matches the rest of the interior.
Bedroom and Garage
A raised platform bed sized for a double mattress fills the rear, surrounded by overhead storage, reading lights, a wooden shelf, and double-glazed windows with blackout blinds and fly nets. Beneath the bed, the rear garage opens outward and holds the van’s utility systems—water tank on the driver’s side, Victron electronics on the passenger side—while leaving room for camping gear and outdoor kit.
Off-Grid Capability
A 460W roof-mounted solar array feeds a 460Ah Fogstar battery through a Victron electrical setup, giving the build genuine off-grid endurance for longer trips. Coalition Vans completed this conversion for £35,000 (approximately $46,800), not including the base van.
