- Vantrack’s LightCamp conversion for the Kia PV5 Passenger enters production with a starting price of approximately €65,000.
- The modular kit includes a slide-out kitchen, inflatable sleeping platform, and rooftop tent with no permanent modifications required.
- Built-in Vehicle-to-Load output and Camp Mode allow the electric MPV to run appliances and climate control off-grid.
Most camper conversions demand a permanent compromise. Bolt in a kitchen, fix a bed, and the family hauler disappears. Dutch specialist Vantrack has rewritten that equation with its LightCamp kit, a modular conversion for the Kia PV5 Passenger that turns the compact electric MPV into a four-person camper without sacrificing its weekday practicality.
Modular Design, No Permanent Changes
The LightCamp kit includes a removable slide-out kitchen, an inflatable sleeping platform, and a rooftop tent. Every component slides into the van without bolts, anchorages, or structural modifications. When the weekend ends, owners can strip the conversion in minutes and return the PV5 to its stock five-seat passenger configuration. Only a fixed panoramic skylight remains permanently in place.
Sleeping Platform and Inflatable Pads
At the core of the package sits a slide-out platform that doubles as a cargo shelf or trunk divider when not deployed as a bed. Instead of a bulky folding mattress, Vantrack pairs the platform with two Exped Luxemat inflatable sleeping pads, each measuring 65 by 190 cm. Deflated, each pad rolls into a compact bundle that tucks neatly beneath the platform, preserving storage space both above and below for camping gear and luggage.

<h3>Slide-Out Kitchen The kitchen stores beneath the bed platform and deploys with folding legs for tailgate cooking or standalone outdoor use. It comes equipped with a single-burner induction cooktop, a bamboo work surface that doubles as a cutting board, a compact sink with a Dometic Go faucet fed by a portable 11-liter water canister, and an 18-liter compressor refrigerator.
Rooftop Architecture
Rather than fitting a heavy pop-up roof, Vantrack developed a removable tent system it calls Rooftop Architecture. The tent packs small enough to ride on the rear section of the roof rack and deploys into a two-person sleeping area measuring roughly 130 by 200 cm. A fixed skylight doubles as the access hatch to the deployed tent. Cargo rails, blackout blinds, a bug screen, an expandable awning, ambient lighting, and storage pockets round out the planned package.
Leveraging the PV5’s Built-In Features
The conversion capitalizes on several factory features of the PV5. Camp Mode lets the high-voltage traction battery power climate control and electrical systems while parked. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) delivers up to 3.6 kW of 230V AC power, enough to run lighting, speakers, coffee makers, and small kitchen appliances directly from the van.
Production and Pricing
Vantrack first revealed the LightCamp in concept form back in April. Response was strong enough to push the Netherlands-based builder toward full production. The production model will be based on the PV5 Passenger Essential trim and debut this September at the Camper Trade Fair in Utrecht. Pricing is expected to start around €65,000, approximately $74,000.
