the 2026 Kia EV4: Kia’s First Electric Sedan
Kia is expanding its electric vehicle lineup beyond SUVs with the introduction of the 2026 Kia EV4, a stylish four-door sedan set to hit the U.S. market. This marks a significant shift for Kia, offering an alternative to the popular SUV form factor. The EV4 boasts an aerodynamic design, a practical front trunk (frunk), and a minimalist interior with ambient lighting. The GT-Line trim offers a sportier aesthetic with unique styling elements and 19-inch wheels.
Performance and Range of the Kia EV4
All 2026 Kia EV4 models will be powered by a 201-hp electric motor driving the front wheels. While an all-wheel-drive version hasn’t been confirmed, the possibility remains open, considering similar offerings from competitors. Kia will offer two battery options. The standard battery aims for approximately 225 miles of range, while the long-range version is expected to reach around 330 miles. Kia claims the EV4 with the standard battery pack can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 7.4 seconds, while the long-range model does it in 7.7 seconds.
Battery and Charging
The 2026 Kia EV4’s standard battery is a 58.3-kWh pack, estimated to provide 225 miles of range based on U.S. EPA standards. The larger 81.4-kWh battery is expected to offer up to 330 miles of range, making it suitable for longer journeys. The long-range model can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 31 minutes using a DC fast charger (29 minutes for the standard battery).
Interior Comfort and Technology
The interior of the EV4 appears more spacious than Kia’s K4 compact sedan, featuring reclining front relaxation seats with leg rests for comfortable charging sessions. The cabin includes customizable mood lighting and a theatre mode for enjoying movies on the infotainment display while parked. A floating 30.0-inch glass panel houses a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 5.3-inch touch panel for climate control. Streaming services like YouTube, Disney+, and Netflix are accessible while parked, along with games and karaoke features. Digital key access is available via smartphone and Apple Watch apps.
Pricing and Availability
The 2026 Kia EV4 is expected to start around $39,000 and range up to $52,000 depending on the trim and selected options. Production is slated to begin in Korea in late 2024, with the U.S. arrival anticipated by late 2025 or early 2026.
Safety and Warranty
The 2026 Kia EV4 comes standard with numerous driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control with lane-centering. Kia offers one of the most comprehensive warranty plans in the automotive industry.
