A Timeless Beauty: The Ferrari 275
The Ferrari 275 stands as a testament to classic automotive design, radiating beauty from every angle. But don’t let its vintage allure deceive you; this ‘Prancing Horse’ was a marvel of engineering innovation during its time. Introduced at the 1964 Paris Salon, the 275 succeeded the 250 GT Lusso, bringing with it significant enhancements such as independent rear suspension, a transaxle setup at the rear, and sleek, aerodynamic body styling crafted by Pininfarina. The 275 demonstrated its prowess on the track, securing a class victory with Écurie Francorchamps at the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans, and this was before the arrival of the even more formidable 275 GTB/4 in 1966.
The Iconic 275 GTB/4 Engine
The 275 GTB/4 holds the distinction of being the first production Ferrari to feature a four overhead camshaft version of the Colombo V12 engine, which evolved from the engine used in the 330 P2 prototype. Equipped with six Weber 40 DCN/2 carburettors and a dry sump lubrication system, the 275 GTB/4 generated an impressive 300 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, making it a true race car adapted for the road.
A Collector’s Dream: Chassis 10563
Completed in late 1967, this particular car, identified by chassis number 10563, is one of those breathtaking 275 GTB/4 models. It left the factory adorned in the striking combination of Verde Pino (Pine Green) exterior over Arancia Connolly (Orange) leather interior. This 275 was among a select group of 30 cars delivered to the United States, sold through the renowned Luigi Chinetti Motors. From its early days, it has been cherished by prominent American Ferrari collectors, earning ‘Best in Class’ awards at Ferrari Club of America National Meetings in 1982 and 1983.
Preserved Elegance: Ready for Auction
Carefully maintained for nearly six decades, chassis 10563 has remarkably avoided the need for a complete restoration and remains in exceptional original condition, save for a refinish and re-trim to its original specifications. With matching numbers for its engine, gearbox, differential, and chassis, this 275 GTB/4 is the kind of vehicle that captures every enthusiast’s imagination.
