Chip Foose Custom John Deere 4020 Tractor Build Explained
Chip Foose collaborated with John Deere around 2010 to transform a 1970 4020 Row-Crop diesel tractor into a sprint car inspired custom build for the Big Buck Sales Event. The fully functional design features an elongated swooping hood, custom side-exhaust pipes, and a metallic green paint job called Kermit DeFrog. Despite being fully reversible and engineered over the original frame, the project sparked intense backlash from John Deere purists who viewed the 4020 as untouchable. After touring dealerships as a promotional grand prize, the tractor was permanently retired and now sits preserved in the climate-controlled John Deere Archives facility in East Moline, Illinois.
